A.J. Smith, b. 1999 is a contemporary black artist who explores abstraction through childlike shape and symbolism. Smith juxtaposes bright, bold ideas with a silence that mimics his inner world. As a licensed mental health counselor, former collegiate athlete and artist he romanticizes split identities as a structure of his work.

dotjaydot was created in early 2025 as a structure to facilitate a.j.'s multifaceted artistic practice including 2D + 3D physical art and public installation. As we look to expand, our goal is to reignite unused creativity in everyday people.
