A.J. Smith, b. 1999 is an ultra contemporary black artist who bridges psychological struggle with a gentle sarcasm felt through childlike figuration and color. Smith is a recent masters graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in mental health counseling. As a former collegiate athlete and dedicated artist, Smith has shown great breadth in his youth.

dotjaydot was created in early 2025 as a structure to facilitate a.j.'s multifaceted artistic practice including 2D + 3D physical art and public installation. As we look to expand, our goal is to reignite unused creativity in everyday people.
